I am very proud of my slide building, I am convinced that it can be done to a very high level and can increase both the playing qualities, and the longevity of the horn. I treat my slides as precision parts and try very hard to meet the .001 inch tolerance that I use for everything else.
To that end, I've developed tools and techniques over time that allow me to hit these targets and even to begin to speed the process up a bit. One in particular is my set of valve slide spacing tools. I have an entire series of them, but the video below shows off two of them: a small crook spacer, and the 25mm valve slide clamp.
